Dr. Gilberto Lopes is a Medical Oncologist and researcher specializing in new anticancer drug development, lung cancer, and global oncology. He is currently Professor of Clinical Medicine, Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology, and Associate Director and Medical Director for International Affairs at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami. His work focuses on clinical trial leadership, cancer control, health policy, health economics, and improving access to cancer medications in underserved settings; he is notably recognized as the principal investigator of KEYNOTE-042, a landmark trial that contributed to FDA approval of pembrolizumab in lung cancer.
