SUMMARY:Upper GI: Technical and Clinical challenges for Radiation Oncologists by ESTRO
DESCRIPTION:Upper GI: Technical and Clinical challenges for Radiation Oncologists by ESTRO will be held from 8-10 March\, 2025 at Lisbon\, Portugal. \nThe Upper GI: Technical and Clinical Challenges for Radiation Oncologists course focuses on addressing the evolving role of radiotherapy in the treatment of upper gastrointestinal (GI) tumors\, which are known for their unfavorable prognosis. Despite these challenges\, there is significant potential for improvement through technological innovations and a multidisciplinary approach. \nThe course provides an interactive educational environment where participants can engage in peer reviews at each stage of radiation therapy practice\, including indication\, prescription\, delineation\, planning\, IGRT\, and outcome evaluation. The course incorporates the latest state-of-the-art technologies and knowledge while considering the perspectives of clinicians\, physicists\, and radiation therapy technologists (RTTs). \nSpecialists from various disciplines will guide participants in understanding the clinical\, anatomic\, and pathological aspects of upper GI tumors\, as well as the therapeutic advancements required for optimal radiation oncology practice. By the end of the course\, participants will be equipped to appropriately indicate radiation therapy\, prescribe treatments\, tailor delineation based on tumor location and stage\, optimize dose distribution\, utilize IGRT technologies effectively\, and monitor tumor response and control.

SUMMARY:The Nordic Radiotherapy Diploma Programme (NORTHDIP) for Clinical Oncologists by ESTRO
DESCRIPTION:The Nordic Radiotherapy Diploma Programme (NORTHDIP) for Clinical Oncologists by ESTRO will be going on for two years from March 2025 to November 2026. \nThe Nordic Radiotherapy Diploma Programme (NORTHDIP) is a two-year advanced education initiative designed for clinical oncologists across the Nordic countries: Denmark\, Iceland\, Finland\, Norway\, and Sweden. The programme addresses the need for supplementary radiotherapy training for oncologists who specialize in radiotherapy after their clinical oncology education. \nThe goal of NORTHDIP is to enhance radiotherapy skills and foster collaboration among Nordic clinical oncologists\, ultimately advancing expertise in the region and promoting collaborative research and development in radiotherapy. \nThe programme’s content is aligned with ESTRO’s core curriculum for radiation oncologists and covers a variety of advanced topics: \n\nSweden 2024: Advanced radiophysics\, dose planning\, organs-at-risk constraints\, and advanced technologies.\nNorway 2025: Radiobiology\, benign diseases\, and palliative care.\nFinland 2025: Reirradiation\, stereotactic radiotherapy\, and BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy).\nDenmark 2026: Adaptive radiotherapy and imaging (CBCT\, dual-energy CT\, PET-CT\, MRI)\, including the integration of proton and MR-Linac therapy.\nIceland 2026: Nordic research protocols\, including the design of clinical trials for collaborative Nordic implementation and shared patient recruitment.
