Irene Mbinya Nzamu

Dr. Irene Mbinya Nzamu, MBS, is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist and Head of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital. She also serves as an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Nairobi.

As the first formally trained pediatric hematologist-oncologist at Kenyatta National Hospital, Dr. Nzamu has contributed to the development of childhood cancer services in Kenya, including diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship care. Her professional activities span pediatric oncology, health systems development, clinical research, and capacity building, with a focus on strengthening the care available to children with cancer.
