Giuseppe Banna: IUCS26 Advances Innovation and Collaboration in Urological Cancer

Giuseppe Banna, Consultant Medical Oncologist at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, shared on LinkedIn:

“What an amazing IUCS26!

My heart is filled with immense joy and deep gratitude following some incredible days in Guildford.

We are leaving this year’s summit with inspiring insights, fresh perspectives, and actionable ideas to push the boundaries of care and improve outcomes for patients with urological cancer worldwide.

A massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this edition such a resounding success:

My fellow co-chair Ravindran Kanesvaran and Directors Akash Maniam, Pasquale Rescigno, Alison Tree and Aruni Ghose alongside our brilliant Scientific Committee (including Sebastiano Buti, Michele Maffezzoli, Giuseppe Neola, Emre Yekeduz) for their dedicated leadership.

Everyone who submitted one of the 73 accepted abstracts, special congratulations to those published in The Oncologist Journal and our 3 Best Poster award winners!

Our 1,275+ participants (both in-person in Guildford and joining virtually across 114 countries), your engagement, questions, and energy powered the entire summit!

Our organising secretariat, Planning Congressi, for seamless logistics and execution and the University of Surrey (Natalia).

Our partners Portable Medical Technology Ltd. (ONCOassist®), Prostate Cancer UK, Vumedi, The Oncologist and sponsors for their unwavering support in keeping this educational platform independent and accessible worldwide.

This isn’t just a conference; it’s a growing global community committed to fraternity, innovation, and better patient care.

Beyond the lectures, data, and clinical debates, the true heart of our summit lies in the human connections we build.

Doctor Chef 2026 was an absolute highlight of IUCS26!

Bringing together faculty, attendees, and colleagues to share food, laughter, and informal conversations created the perfect atmosphere to foster genuine friendship and meaningful networking.

It reminded all of us that building a strong global urology oncology community starts with fraternity, shared experiences, and a welcoming spirit.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined, cooked, tasted, and contributed to making it such an unforgettable evening!

Here’s to science, community, and great food!

Congratulations to the Winner Chef, Xue-Yan Jiang (Xj) and her team, and to the other great chefs, Deborah Mukherji, Pasquale Rescigno and Michele Maffezzoli.

Many thanks to Irene Randazzo for making this possible!

Unlocking the full potential of Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) worldwide!

During IUCS26, we had the privilege of hosting a dedicated high-level workshop in partnership with MEDSIR, bringing together global clinical leaders and researchers to tackle a crucial challenge:

How can we overcome the barriers to international, academic-driven clinical trials?

While IITs are essential for addressing unmet clinical needs, generating real-world evidence, and driving patient-centred innovation, navigating regulatory hurdles, cross-border logistics, and funding constraints remains a complex hurdle.

Through an open, dynamic, and forward-thinking discussion, we explored these challenges head-on and identified actionable pathways to overcome them together.

Key Outcome:

We emerged from the workshop with 3 concrete initiatives that we will be actively developing over the coming months, marking a brand-new, high-impact opportunity within the International Urology Cancer Summit framework!

A sincere thank you to the MEDSIR team (Federica Turrisi, PharmD, Natacha Bonnet, Anna and Rosario) for their outstanding partnership and shared vision, and to all the ment

ors, Ravindran Kanesvaran, Deborah Mukherji, Stefanie Zschäbitz, Dr. María Natalia Gandur Quiroga, Pasquale Rescigno, Akash Maniam, trialists, and collaborators who contributed their insights.

Stay tuned as we turn these strategic proposals into impactful international research collaborations!
